DESCRIPTION:Virtual Classroom \nClient motivation and commitment to treatment begins with the assessment and diagnostic phase that typically occurs at intake. This course will consider the differences between screening and assessment and the use of assessment instruments. The class will educate the students about components of the clinical assessment such as a biopsychosocial interview\, assessing risk for self­ harm\, identifying cultural needs and supports\, problem domains\, determining the stage of readiness for change\, and strengths of the client. Determining diagnosis utilizing the DSM 5 and resulting level of care for the client will be discussed using the ASAM criteria. Stages of treatment and systems of care will be covered along with facets of treatment planning. \nTime/Duration: Virtual Classroom meets online via Zoom or Google Meet from 8:30 – 4:00 (14 hours) for 2 consecutive days. Students will also have handouts and resource material for the class as well as the final exam and course evaluation. Enrolled students will receive an online classroom login 2-5 days prior to the class start date. \nAccess: Students must download the free Zoom or Google Meet application on a video-capable phone\, laptop\, or desktop. \nCost: $180.00
