DESCRIPTION:Description: \nThis class presents models of addiction\, defines addiction treatment\, presents the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) principles of effective treatment\, outlines various types of addiction treatment and the use of evidence ­based treatment approaches\, the competencies required of an addiction counselor and professional readiness for addiction counselors. It also covers addiction counselor credentialing in Colorado and applicable rules. \nTime/Duration: Virtual Classroom meets online via Zoom or Google Meet from 8:30 – 4:00 (21- hours) for 3 consecutive days. Students will also have handouts and resource material for the class as well as the final exam and course evaluation. Enrolled students will receive an online classroom login 2-5 days prior to the class start date. \nAccess: must download free Zoom or Google Meet application on a video-capable phone\, laptop\, or desktop. \nCost:$240.00
