SUMMARY:Infectious Disease in Addiction Treatment Virtual Classroom May 8-9
DESCRIPTION:Description: \nDrug and alcohol abuse and infectious diseases go hand in hand. Anyone who is abusing drugs is at higher risk for contracting and spreading infectious diseases. Understanding the diseases that might affect clients who are addicted to alcohol and other substances is a cornerstone of addiction counseling. This class will help prepare addiction professionals to identify such diseases\, determine client risk for infection\, educate clients about disease prevention and treatment options\, and assist clients in obtaining appropriate treatment as needed. \nTime/Duration: Virtual Classroom meets online via Zoom or Google Meet from 8:30 – 4:00.(14 hours) for 2 consecutive days. Students will also have handouts and resource material for the class as well as the final exam and course evaluation. Enrolled students will receive an online classroom login 2-5 days prior to the class start date. \nAccess: must download free Zoom or Google Meet application on a video-capable phone\, laptop\, or desktop. \nCost: $170.00
